The 2008 UEFA European Football Championships, commonly referred to as Euro 2008, will take place in Austria and Switzerland, from 7th to 29th June 2008. The games are split between 8 cities, 4 in Switzerland which are Basle, Berne, Geneva & Zurich and 4 in Austria which are Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Salzburg & Vienna
A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament. Austria and Switzerland will automatically qualify as hosts; Austria will be making its first appearance in the tournament. The remaining 14 teams will be determined through qualifying matches which started in August 2006. The winner of Euro 2008 will represent the UEFA at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
The group stages run between the 7th & 18th June 2008
The quarter finals run between the 19th & 22nd June 2008,
The semi finals are on the 25th & 26th June 2008
The final is held on the 29th June 2008
