The branch manager of The Co-operative Travel in Droylsden, Manchester, is celebrating this week after her efforts helped to raise £580,000 for Diabetes UK.
Stella Kenyon organised numerous events to play an integral part in the marathon fundraiser, and has consequently been rewarded with a Fundraiser of the Year Award and a Special Achievement Award – the third consecutive year she has been recognised for her charity work.
Speaking at an event in Manchester to hand over the funds to Diabetes UK this week on behalf of the former United Co-operatives region, Stella said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have won these awards, but I’m even more delighted that we’ve raised so much money this year. Our charity target was set at £150,000, so having more than trebled it is a wonderful achievement for myself and all the other fundraisers.”
